Course Objectives

In this course you will learn to

become more familiar with some grammatical rules of English by studying them as they are presented in the textbook
use these structures in textbook and workbook exercises
use these structures in your own writing
practice recognizing and correcting errors in the use of these structures as they appear in your own writing and the writing of others
improve your general ability to communicate effectively, especially in written English

Evaluation

Conditionally-admitted students will receive a letter grade (A-F). Other students will receive a grade of S (Satisfactory) or U (Unsatisfactory) unless you request a letter grade (A-F).

Grades will be based on:

All assignments (in-class writing, homework, exercises, etc.)
Exams/tests/quizzes
Attendance and participation -- 85% attendance is required to pass the course

Expectations

Come to class on time and prepared for the day's work. Much of the responsibility for your success in improving your grammar rests with you.

If you miss a class it is your responsibility to learn about the assignment for the next class and to do that assignment. Asking one of your classmates is the best approach.
